2D Ultrasound

Most parents are familiar with the traditional 2D ultrasound — a two-dimensional black-and-white image of your baby. This type of scan is primarily used for diagnostic purposes, helping assess your baby’s health and development by visualising skeletal structure and internal organs.

While 2D images may appear blurry or grey, they provide essential reassurance during early pregnancy and are often used for gender reveal announcements and keepsake photos from the first trimester. However, because these images don’t show detailed facial features, some parents may find them less emotionally satisfying compared to more advanced imaging options.

3D Ultrasound

Unlike traditional 2D ultrasound imaging, a 3D baby scan offers stunning detail, producing lifelike three-dimensional photographs of your baby. This advanced technology provides your first glimpse of your baby’s facial features and expressions — a truly unforgettable moment.

Our 3D ultrasound software highlights the most commonly visible features, including the nose, lips, and cheeks. You’ll be able to see the roundness of your baby’s face, the shape of their nose, and the curve of their lips — all captured in beautiful clarity.

3D photographs are especially popular during the second and third trimesters, when facial features are more developed. They make cherished keepsakes and are a wonderful way to bond with your baby before birth.

4D Ultrasound

A 4D ultrasound lets you witness your baby’s movements in real-time — from adorable yawns and stretches to heartwarming smiles. At Sonovis Imaging, we use the advanced GE Logiq Fortis ultrasound system, equipped with high-definition software to deliver exceptional clarity and detail.

This specialised technology captures both dynamic motion and 3D imagery, enhanced by a virtual light source that gives the images a natural, skin-toned appearance. The result is a beautifully realistic and defined view of your baby.

Your 4D scan becomes more than just a medical check — it’s a treasured video keepsake that allows you to bond with your little one throughout your pregnancy.

Choosing the best ultrasound package depends on what you’d like to see and the purpose of your scan. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide:

• Reassurance & Bonding Scans (from 8 weeks) Ideal for peace of mind at any stage of pregnancy. These 2D scans are available from 8 weeks, provided a diagnostic scan has already been completed at any imaging service. They’re perfect for checking in between routine medical ultrasounds and connecting with your baby early on.

• Gender Reveal Scans (15–16 weeks) Planning a gender reveal? The best time to find out your baby’s gender is between 15 and 16 weeks, when anatomy is more clearly visible.

• 3D/4D Facial Imaging (27–32 weeks) For beautifully detailed images of your baby’s face, book a 3D or 4D scan between 27 and 32 weeks — with 30 weeks being ideal. These scans capture facial features and movements in stunning clarity. Scans outside this window are still possible, though image quality may vary depending on your baby’s position, size, placenta location, and amniotic fluid levels.

Our Hello Baby ultrasounds are an elective (non-diagnostic) service designed to provide an experience. This service does not replace any of the formal medical ultrasounds that your doctor may request throughout your pregnancy. The health and wellbeing of you and your baby is important to us. Therefore, it is an expectation that a diagnostic ultrasound has been performed prior to making an elective Hello Baby booking. We offer no form of medical advice or diagnosis and cannot provide measurements of the baby or establish a due date during an elective ultrasound.

We understand that situations arise in which you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. It is therefore requested that if you must cancel  or need to reschedule your appointment you provide more than 24 hours’ notice. At Sonovis Imaging our focus is to provide a memorable bonding experience for you and your baby to share with your loved ones. Whilst we encourage you to include your loved ones in this experience, we are limited to accommodate 6 people during a session (mum-to-be + 6 others).

Whilst children are most welcome, any child under the age of 5 must either remain seated at all times, be restrained in a pram or baby capsule or held by a supervised adult. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of staff and visitors. It is our experience young children have limited attention spans in this type of environment. To accommodate this, we do permit the use of electronic devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) during the session. We kindly ask the volume is set to an appropriate level to ensure it is not a distraction for others in the room. Alternatively, a child may leave the room under the supervision of an adult, you are more than welcome to rejoin the session at any time.

We understand that this is a special moment for everyone attending. We please ask to ensure all phones are turned on silent prior to the session. If you are required to take a phone call, please leave the room to allow others to enjoy the experience uninterrupted. If guests would like to record special moments during the session, we kindly ask you to obtain permission from the sonographer prior to filming.

In the event of an unexpected pregnancy finding, our protocol will be implemented to ensure you are supported to seek the necessary medical attention. In the event of an unexpected pregnancy finding for your elective Hello Baby 2D 3D 4D ultrasound there will be no charge for your session.

Tricefy is a communication service licensed to Sonovis Imaging. The images and videos from your session can be accessed and downloaded to your mobile phone and computer through the Tricefy application. Tricefy is compatible with both Android and Apple devices. As these are precious keepsakes, please refer to our recommended storage options to protect and preserve those precious memories of your little one before they are born.

Please ensure to store your thermal prints in a dark place, such as a keepsake box, as light can cause the thermal prints to fade over time. All packages include our premium photo tubes to safely transport and store your thermal images. To ensure your thermal prints last, refrain from storing your prints on top of each other as this can cause the thermal prints to rub and fade, it is best to put paper underneath each print before placing them on top of each other. If you want to display them in an album, we recommend an acid free photo album. Please do not laminate your thermal prints, it will result in the image being melted.
